Dear friends and colleagues!

On behalf of Russian Railways, I welcome you to the key event of the railway engineering industry — the International Railway Salon of the 1520 Area “PRO//Motion.Expo”.

This year the Salon takes place in an anniversary year for the industry: 180 years of railway engineering in Russia. In August 1845, the first batch of steam locomotives built at the Alexandrovsky Mechanical Plant was accepted for the railway then under construction between St. Petersburg and Moscow.

Today, amid profound change and global challenges, our country is making another breakthrough in transport. The first high-speed railway project is becoming a true symbol of the transition to a new technological era that will give fresh momentum to every sector of the Russian economy.

That is why our immediate priorities are leadership in engineering development, the introduction of domestic digital and innovative solutions, high-tech infrastructure projects, new competencies for the transport innovators of the future, and the continued development of Russia’s engineering school.

“PRO//Motion.Expo” brings together industry experts, executives of manufacturing companies, technology developers, and representatives of Russian and international railway research organisations.

It creates a unique opportunity for cooperation, exchange of experience, and establishing business ties around current and future projects.

As always, railway equipment manufacturers will present their most important new products. The Business Program will address key issues shaping the future development of railway technologies.

Participants will also see an impressive dynamic display of historic locomotives, dedicated this year to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Colleagues and friends, I wish all of us productive work, valuable meetings, engaging discussions and new achievements.
